Lost Circulation Materials in Geothermal Drilling: Single Fracture Clogging Experments

In progress License

The submitted dataset was generated by a series of laboratory fracture clogging (permeability reduction) experiments using commercially available materials used for lost circulation management during geothermal well drilling. The experiments were conducted using a permeability plugging tester (6,000 psi model, Ofite, TX) and customized, finite length fracture models. For each experiment, the temperature was 90 deg C, maximum fluid pressure was 500 psi (3.45 MPa), and the total flow volume was ~200 mL. The submitted data consist of (1) LCM size distribution table, (2) LCM-mud mixture injection pressure and volume histories, and (3) LCM performance summary table. A metadata file including short descriptions of the experimental procedures and conditions (e.g. LCM type, flow rate) of each experiment is also submitted.
