GLADE Project: Pre-Feasibility Economic Evaluation by National Lab of the Rockies
The Geothermal Limitless Approach to Drilling Efficiencies (GLADE) project was undertaken in Denver-Julesburg (DJ) Basin Colorado to evaluate whether advanced oil and gas drilling practices could be adapted to improve geothermal well construction in deep, hot, hard-rock environments. Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy Geothermal Technologies Office and executed by Oxy, the project focused on drilling two deep wells, GLADE West and GLADE East, through the sedimentary section and into Precambrian granitic basement. The file contains a Pre-Feasibility Economic Evaluation for the DJ Basin, Colorado incorporating GLADE drilling results.
This work was authored by the National Laboratory of the Rockies for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), operated under Contract No. DE-AC36-08GO28308. Funding provided by the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Geothermal. The views expressed in the article do not necessarily represent the views of the DOE, the U.S. Government, or the operator of the project, Oxy. The report was developed and authored by National Lab of the Rockies to support the GLADE DOE project. This report is not an economic evaluation of the GLADE wells or the GLADE project. The results presented are not an economic evaluation by the operator of the GLADE DOE project.
