Drilling-Induced Tensile Fracture (DITF) and Borehole Breakout Picks for Utah FORGE Boreholes

In progress License

This submission contains picked drilling-induced tensile fractures (DITF) and borehole breakouts for Utah FORGE wells 16A(78)-32, 16B(78)-32, 58-32, 56-32, and 78B-32. These picks were made by Wenjing Wang and Jeffrey Burghardt for the purpose of stress analysis. Other fracture pick data sets for these wells picked all fractures, including natural fractures that are not suitable for stress interpretation. The picks in this data set are those that met the criteria for stress-related DITF or Breakouts that are listed in the README file.

These data sets were produced as part of FORGE Project 5-2428 " Coupled Investigation of Fracture Permeability Impact on
Reservoir Stress and Seismic Slip Behavior". We analyzed all available image logs for. As part of this effort we obtained several image logs from SLB that were either missing from the GDR, or the versions in the GDR were not oriented such that they were not usable for DITF and Breakout picks. Specifically, the UBI log DLIS from logging run 4 was missing from the GDR. The UBI DLIS files for runs 2B and 2B were not oriented. The run 3 and run 4 UBI logs also had large depth errors because of stick-slip during the logging run. We worked with SLB to identify the orientation channels to use to orient the UBI logs to the top of hole. Further, we used the gamma ray logs to match the depths of these logs with the other logs from 16A(78)-32. This submission contains WellCAD project files with the corrected image logs in addition to text files containing only the picked DITF and Breakout locations and orientations.
